This course is an evidence-based online training for professionals, educators, and disability support workers navigating the complex and often sensitive area of sexualised behaviour in people with disability. Grounded in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and a rights-based framework, the course provides foundational knowledge, assessment processes, and ethical guidance for responding to behaviour related to sexuality in a safe, person-centred, and affirming way.
Throughout the training, participants will explore:
- The theoretical background of sexual development and behaviours of a sexual nature in people with disability
- Assessment tools and functional frameworks to identify function, context, and risk
- Risk management strategies that balance dignity of risk and duty of care
- Realistic and compassionate case studies to support applied learning
- Intervention recommendations, including practical strategies, replacement behaviours, environmental scaffolding, and visual or structured supports that enhance communication and safety
